Dojo Etiquette
The Dojo is any room, hall, or space where you go to train karate. The following rules should be observed when you are in the Dojo:

Try not to be late for class (allow enough time to get changed, use the restroom, and pay fees). Late arrivals should enter the Dojo quietly and warm up. When ready to join class, they must kneel in the rear and side area of the classroom where they can be seen by the instructor, and watch carefully for the instructor's signal to join in. When the signal is given, they should remain kneeling, bow deeply, then walk quickly and quietly to rank position.
Always bow every time you enter or leave the Dojo. Once for the Dojo, and once for every black belt.
Keep the Dojo clean. Please remove all outdoor shoes when entering the Dojo. It is polite to walk around the outside edge of the training area.
Jewelry or watches should not be worn. If it is not possible to remove jewelry, they must be covered.
Never eat or chew in the Dojo.
Black Belt instructors should be referred to as Sensei or Mr., Mrs., Miss _______.
As a show of respect for the Dojo and fellow students, foul language and derogatory noises are not permitted.
Junior ranks should acknowledge that respect should be shown for seniority.
Keep finger and toenails short and clean.
It is the responsibility of the individual student to ensure their gi fits correctly and is kept clean and in a good state of repair. The appropriate belt must be worn with the gi at all times.
Never throw your belt carelessly onto the floor. Always place it wherever you want to put it. Treat it with respect. You have earned the rank.
Visitors to the Dojo should sit quietly at the back of the Dojo.
Go to the restroom before class begins. Going to the restroom during class causes a disruption.
If you have an injury or illness, notify the instructor before class begins.
